I intentionally decided to share my No Rush Philosophy with you. Let me explain what it means to me – maybe it will resonate with you too.
Whenever I feel rushed to do something, that very thing begins to put pressure on me. Pressure leads to boredom, and boredom eventually turns into rejection.
For example: if I want to learn a difficult piano piece and I try to master it in 1–2 days, pushing myself for hours, rushing from bar to bar just to reach the end, the result is always the same – bad technique, sloppy playing, and growing frustration with my own skills. Eventually, I end up sick of the piece and don’t want to touch it anymore.
I’ve found that the best approach is not to hurry. Take the smallest steps possible – even if it’s just one bar a day – and let it settle until you can play it confidently, even hear it clearly in your head. That’s far better than trying to swallow the whole elephant in one day…
This approach motivates me to return to the piece regularly, until one day I notice that I can play it perfectly.
I’m trying to apply this principle to everything I do – except, obviously, situations involving a barking dog. Then speed suddenly becomes very meaningful :)
